After drooling in envy at Pauline's Miss-I-am- 202g-Coco Chanel, Beanie is very embarrassed because, well, Beanie Junior( Now 1 year old ++) is below 150g and Fiddo(Est. to be 4 months?) is about there only (don't want my boys to look like a robo) ah... hence I am considering taking on Ackley's strict anti-commercial diet, no offense to Eplusco as the Vitakraft blend she reccommended is very good! Beanie is just greedy to want more..... :P

Beanie would want then to ask more,

* Is it recommended to just feed organic mix? (of course with the cooked food too)
* If so what are the usual mix to add (please pm me your recipe if needed :P)
* What are the things I have to look out for when feeding Organic Mix?

BJFS is currently on:

* Scrape meat(whatever I cooked for my doggie they get a little from) like pork, high in omega fish, chicken..
* Sample pack of Addiction, CHicken and avacado(i sprinkle a little before i feed)
* A Blend of:
- Vitakraft Wellness
- Vitakraft Beauty
- Vitakraft Sunshine
- Vitakraft Verde
- Eplusco organic mix

Other Notes to Add:

* Each of them get 2 chinese spoons full of the blend a day.
* Both drinks Fiji.
* Both get small amount of vegetables of the day.

Thankfully for this forum,
Miss-i-also-want-chubby-and-healthy-hammies,

Beanie.

Rf has made wonders on many/ most hamsters ,Heard of a case whereby even though the hamster might be old and sick. he can still put on a weight of 175g...
Would recommend feeding RF to build up your hamster's imunity system too

And on top of it

Fresh vegetables diet are definitely good. :)
Can refer to cm's Fresh veggies diet list to see for what can be fed and not.

But line and generation[Genes] are still one of the main point for its size and structure..
So being healthy hams are good enough. :)

just a note:

If you are making drastic changes to a hamster's diet, it would be best to do so moderately, meaning you don't change the entire recipe overnight. lol. I hope that makes sense :)

Organic/RF/Fresh does help i guess..
I still give them the commercial mix cos i scare i go out late, they no food (i know they can tahan de but but..).... anyway they r eating less of them liao.. i use to refill once every 2 days.. now.. can leave for 4-5 days still got food there.

Variety of freshie to keep them eating n eating n eating.. but do note some ham just never gain weight (READ: CHIMMI YEO).. lol

Yes. and slowly you can swop out the commercial mix and start giving purely organic mix with fresh veg diet..
Like slowly :P... but sappy did manage to adapt to the change quite readily, as i think I have been feeding her with vegs ever since shes with me occasionally..

hmm as advised i've given them more fresh food + adding additional pumpkin seed,melon seed walnut, cashew nut, pinenuts to their diet + more leafy and rooty vegetable and eggs. I am even overcoming my fears of meal worms. The boys have been eating a lot more and fiddo has been only leaving the vitakraft behind. Even the baby patchie who is boarding till CNY love their new diet!
